Poster Design Competition 2010

Poster Design Competition 2010

The Art Institutes schools and Americans for the Arts are holding a Poster Design Competition this spring for high school seniors interested in studying graphic design. The grand-prize winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship to study graphic design at The Art Institutes. Partial scholarships are also available for finalists.

Create a poster on the theme "Life is better with art in it" and submit it, along with a designer's statement, to the local Art Institutes school that you plan to attend. Graphic design professionals will judge your work's originality, visual impact, and demonstration of basic design concepts.

If you win first place in local competition, you will be automatically entered to the national competition with a chance to win the grand prize.

What You Can Win

Local first-place winners will earn a $3,000 scholarship to The Art Institutes school they plan to attend, and the chance to compete at the national level for the full-tuition scholarship. Local second-place winners will receive a $2,000 scholarship toward the Art Institutes school they plan to attend.

The national first-place winner will receive the full-tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes, the second-place winner will receive a 50% scholarship, and the third-place winner will earn a 25% scholarship.

Last year's winner, Ciara Borchard of Helendale, Calif., said in her design statement, "When I found this competition, I started bouncing different ideas around.... I wanted to make an everyday object be seen in a different light." She is now enrolled at the Art Institute of California - San Diego.

Deadlines

All complete entries must be received by February 5, 2010. Local winners will be notified by March 26, 2010. National winners will be selected and notified by May 21, 2010.
